Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who can post to the newsnext.com calendar?

A: The service is designed to act as an independent forum for publicity officers, public relations companies, etc., to inform journalists about potential story leads on the horizon. Therefore the majority of news breakers who post to the calendar will be public relations executives who want to reach a broad media audience looking for leads. Registration and posting to the calendar is free.

Q: What kind of events can be posted to newsnext.com?

A: Practically anything which may be of interest to journalists looking for story leads or feature ideas. Organisations promoting public awareness through a special day or week may like to post details well in advance so editors can contact them for additional information. Press conferences and photo calls can be posted to the relevant categories. Other suitable events include celebrity appearances, organised protests, political meetings, announcements of financial information, anniversaries, conferences, product launches, etc. And don't forget the 'Unusual' category - journalists looking for quirky, off-diary news stories will be checking this on a regular basis. As long as it's happening in the future - whether it be two days, two weeks, two months or two years - then it can be posted to newsnext.com.

Q: How long will it take for my free application to post to newsnext.com to be approved?

A: It can take up to 24 hours, but is often approved much sooner than that. Please include as much information about your company/reasons for posting in your application.

Q: Are posts vetted before they appear on the site?

A: Most posts will have to be approved before they are added to the calendar database and made visible to journalists. This can take up to 24 hours. Regular users posting relevant information may be granted an enhanced status which will allow their posts to appear automatically. No charge will be made for this. As per our disclaimer, we reserve the right to suspend or delete any listings.

Q: Where do I send press releases regarding future events?

A: newsnext.com is designed to be a self-service tool for journalists and news breakers, so there is not a lot we can do with press releases regarding future events at this time. However, if you would like to send press releases, please send then to events@newsnext.com, but please do not send press releases that do not give details of future events.

Q: I represent a PR company with a number of clients. Can I post details of events and link back to my PR company's website?

A: Absolutely. Providing journalists can get contact info we encourage all PR companies to do this. If the event has a dedicated website, feel free to add that link. And feel free to include your PR company email address as contact info.

Q: I've posted information regarding an event but some of the details have changed/the event has been cancelled. How do I make changes?

A: On any of the newsnext.com pages, click on the 'my calendar' link. Once you have logged into the system you will be able to edit or delete any of your posts.

Q: I've spotted an inaccuracy in the details of an event posted on the newsnext.com site. What should I do?

A: We would be delighted if you could notify us of this using our feedback form.

Q: I represent a company/web site which covers events in a specific sector/theme. Can I post details to the newsnext.com site and link back to our own site?

A: Yes, we encourage other sites to post and link back to their own pages. newsnext.com's primary commitment to journalists is that they can gain access to contact information in a few clicks.

Q: How long do the event posts remain on the calendar?

A: Posts remain in the database until the the day after the event has finished. The posts are then automatically deleted.
