Launched in February 2003, newsnext.com is a free service for journalists and publicity officers, allowing the former to spot up-and-coming news stories and the latter to provide information about events through an independent medium. Partner websites prposts.com, a database of PR and marketing jobs in the UK and overseas; and prfinder.com, a dynamic directory of UK and global PR and marketing resources, were launched at the same time.

In May 2003, all three services became part of the PR Press Network, a move which coincided with the launch of prmailbox.com, a free web-based email service for PR professionals, and prtalk.com, an open discussion group for the public relations industry.

May also saw the soft launch of SimpleScout, a free location scouting service for filmmakers and photographers, and SimpleClip, a press clippings brokerage service. Both services are also designed to help public relations professionals and additional sites and services are to be introduced later in 2003.

newsnext.com - like all PR Press Network services - focuses on a UK user base, although international writers and publicity departments are free to search and post to the newsnext.com calendar. PR Press Network sites will be marketed to a more international audience later in 2003 and into 2004.
